Event Details

Course Description
In these 3 introductory sessions you will learn about the essentials to taming the Photoshop beast. Each 90 minute session focuses on core skills necessary to start navigating through and performing basic functions on this amazing and robust image editing program.

Course Size
A maximum of 15 per class so that each participant can get the attention necessary when learning a complex program.

Prerequisite
You will take more advantage of the class if you bring your own laptop with a version of Photoshop (from CS3 onwards) already installed. You can download Adobe's free 30 day trial at: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

Curriculum
Session 1 - June 29 -
Understanding the environment

We will review Photoshop's basic tools, workspaces and side panels. We will go over each of the tools
(selection, lasso, eyedropper, brush, eraser, paintbucket, type tool, etc) their submenus and their keyboard shortcuts. Attendees will open an image to start fiddling/testing these tools out.


Session 2 - July 6 - Basics of Image Editing
We will go over the different file formats (jpg, giff, png, etc) and their uses, the importance of understanding resolution and end use size and the difference between cropping, resizing and resampling.
Attendees will work on a proivded image to understand how to work with layers, basic filters and blending modes.


Session 3 - July 20 - More Image Editing
Attendees will be provided an image (or they are welcomed to bring their own) to learn how to work with adjustment layers, clone tool, stamp tool, healing and basic color correction.


Sylvia Vaquer brings extensive experience in branding and advertising. She recently co-founded SocioFabrica, a firm dedicated to helping passion brands create deeper and more engaging relationships with their customers through design, marketing and technology solutions. Previously, she worked as a creative in Interbrand, Addis Creson and Wolff Olins. Sylvia received her BA in Graphic Design from RISD.
